The oldest city in No. America

Saint Augustine, FL

Nov 18, 2021

Thought about riding our bikes around the city following the tour buses to see the sights, but decided walking would do.

With so many sights and such to see and do in one day, we got overwhelmed and just headed to the fort. It was the best fort we’ve seen so far for sure, and we heard the sea shell blocks it was made of supposedly ate cannon balls!

Our mock-battle boat ride on a pirate ship that evening got canceled, so we had the whole day to explore. We considered the Pirate & Treasure museum in lieu, but it and a lot of the sites seemed much the “tourist trap”, so we opted instead to get out of main town and head to a more local spot for some seafood by the docks, at Fish Camp. Great lunch and nice beer selection! We strolled through the olde colonial town of St Augustine on our walk back to the bikes, then headed back to our camp at Anastasia State Park for a quiet stroll on the nature trail and out to the marsh for sunset.
