An evening at Delicate Arch

Although a 1.5 mile hike sounded simple, this one was quite the challenge! Uphill most of the way, in the extreme heat, on a whopping slab of steep slickrock, then across a ledge on the side of a steep rock face. But what a payoff! The destination includes an incredibly photogenic arch above a natural stone amphitheater - known to be must at sunset.

As we arrived, there were dozens of tourists lined up for photos under the arch. So we broke open the champagne, toasted the arrival of Stacey's new nephew, Leo, and waited for the crowds to leave. Then we had the whole place to ourselves (almost!). Finished the excursion with a return hike in the dark under a starlit sky:)
