Another early morning

Updated: Sep 4, 2021

8/31 Tuesday

Yes, we like the morning's cool walk and wait for sunrise now! And the Windows area of Arches would never disappoint.

Turret Arch, North & South Windows, & Double Arch all lit up like promised and a full morning's worth of exploring and photographing.

Losing Stacey to her work day, Mark, Trish, & I made one more adventurous outing down along Park Avenue, only to realize we would loose the shade and should turn back and climb out to the car before melting of brain cells from the toasty temps (100F). We vowed to come back with full battery in my phone & camera, and to show Stacey our magnificent find during a much nicer time of the day. Leftovers for eats at camp, and then a squirreling away of goods before the coming thunderstorm, a quick shower, and off to the cool dark Woody's bar for the afternoon.

Worked on my website and photo portfolio with large frosty mugs of beer in hand. It still didn’t cool down after the clouds covered the sky, so we headed out on a scenic drive in search of a swim hole, but instead found a dirt, pseudo 4x4 drive up thru the Red Sands Rec Area. It got bumpy and we kept going, all the way into the high La Sal Mountains. Homeward to camp on a very welcome paved road over 2 hrs later, settled into the tent, exhausted again and awaiting the rains.
