Denver & Red Rock Amphitheater

Sept 12-14, 2021

We sadly left the Rocky’s behind and made our way to the flat lands. Denver was our next stop, for a two night camp at Cherry Creek State Park. This park is huge for being smack dab in the middle of urban greater Denver! Laundered & showered finally, we head to the Morrison foothills and the great slanted wall known as Red Rocks. This place has meant something special to me ever since I started going to concerts, and this was my first opportunity to visit! And if it wasn’t for a super amazing gift from the lovely Jill, we would not have gone at all… Brandi Carlile was the headliner, with Mavis Staples opening. Brandi rocked the place to dance mode for nearly the full 2.5 hour set, and she was accompanied by the Colorado symphony for 1/2 the show! It was a fantastic evening, thx again Jill❤️.

If ever there was a band you wanted to see live - make the trip to see them here!

The next day, we met up with our friend Brian for tacos and margaritas near Union Station, and then did some exploring of Denver's riverfront bike paths. The bike path took us along the Cherry Creek Trail (which we could actually have taken all the way back to our campsite!), along the Platte River, and to the biggest REI ever. Back to the campground just in time for a bald eagle siting and the best sunset ever.

Next day, we packed up and hit the road again; destination - Pawnee State Recreation Area campground for a one-night stop on the way to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore.

Pawnee St Rec Area campground was lovely
