Finger Lakes is gorges!

Sept 24, 25, 26, 2021

Watkins Glen State Park, site 263

Taughannock Falls

I want to say that there are too many water falls/cascades to actually see here in the Finger Lakes area - not that we haven’t been giving it a good try…

I could rate them in an order to visit them, with the first ones being good, and the last being blown-away by. But the parameters would be off, because one amazing tall waterfall, is not the same as a narrow gorge full of cascades upon cascades that goes on and on… ahhh it is too much pressure on me - I’ll just say come to New York and see them all for yourself!

Watkins Glen is Amazing !!!

Rainbow Falls @ Watkins Glen

Ok yeah, I do have a couple of favorites to share, just don’t tell everybody please 😜

Yes, Watkins Glen is one if you haven’t figured that out yet… the other has a funny name: Cascadilla gorge. Now I will warn you, all gorges have some hills to climb to get the good views, and most will have a lot of stairs. So many stairs they will burn your thighs and send you to look for a boat to paddle, just to not climb anymore.

Ithaca has its share of waterfalls, and that’s also where we found Cascadilla Gorge.

There are so many parks to see, and not to mention the lakes, wineries, and breweries too. The falls are so plentiful, they are even along the roads or in peoples back yards…

“Private” Glenora Falls

The nightlife in the area is also plentiful! Over the weekend, we caught 2 good bands and David Sedaris at the State Theatre. Life is good in the Finger Lakes.
