9,039 miles in the Chariot

Charleston, South Carolina is a party town after dark; during the daylight hours, it’s a lovely mix of history and culture. Somehow, we avoided all of the above & hid from the coming storm in a funky hostel, just far enough away from the booze pop truck (yes, frozen booze popsicles sold out of an ice cream truck - the kids love ‘em😜)!

I don’t mean that we hid from everything - we did walk 14 miles around the whole town in 2 days, in the rain! We spotted beautiful old mansions, creepy cemeteries, and confederate statues, still upright, on our serpentine jaunt around the old town. The hardest part of the trip to the city was being the only people in soaking wet rain gear, and trying to find a place to sit in the crowded pubs! We found that we really started to like Charleston, and then our 2 day stay was over. Onto Savannah!

We liked Savannah way more than Charleston.
