Lefkas, Greece
Jan. 28 & 29, 2022
SV Lola arrived with great fanfare, playing the Kinks song loudly. We met up with Stacey, Lola’s boat owners and some IYC (Ionian Yacht Charters) folks, who met us on another catamaran, as we neared the port of Lafkas. The two boats tied together, and greetings and toasts made the rounds. A last fly of the Wingaker to show off, and we head to port. Passing a flock of flamingos for a well deserved disembarkation. Bags unloaded and an invite to dinner, I attempt to find my land legs again - as well as a nice hot shower. Out for an amazing locals feast of Greek eats, and good sailing conversation till late late night, I am completely exhausted and say goodbye to my new family of friends. Thankful of the experience to make the trans-Mediterranean crossing, and now decidedly unwilling to become a delivery captain, I find myself asleep as my head hits to pillow.

Not wanting to waste a day lounging in bed (as lovely as that sounded after such a journey), we decided to do a leisurely drive along the west coast of the island and have a look. What we didn‘t expect, was to find two unbelievable beaches, a picture perfect lighthouse, and a stunning waterfall canyon…

the same beach is called Megali Petra…?

can you find Stacey in the photograph?

gorgeous pics - what, no swimming by ranger Eric?
Scenery sucks. Sorry you had to go there.
