We make the drive south from St Augustine and stop to see my Aunt & Uncle at their place in New Smyrna Beach. Lovely visit, especially since we hadn’t seen them since our New England wedding reception! We had lots to catch up on… sadly we forgot to take a photo.

From there, we went out of the way for manatees at Blue Springs state park. Totally worth it - what a treat! We saw dozens of manatees. Turtles, alligators, gar & manatees - all being friends in the same swim hole! Sadly, when the manatees are in the park, you cannot get in the water🥺. The warm water of the spring comes up out of a cavern that you can dive to 130 feet in, and apparently is a big favorite of the manatees (and lots of other critters, it seems).

After tearing ourselves away from the manatees, a long drive down the state brought us to Delray Beach, where we moved into Yusaf’s ’spare’ home for the next 10 days!

Big Gator, turtles, and the Manatee (grey blob between the Gators tail & the turtle)

the Manatees we’re all around !
