Collins Quarter restaurant Forsyth Park.
Our last day about Savannah, and sadly Stacey had a bunch of work. That means I got to get educated at a museum of my choosing. Maritime mishaps, and the pirates &/or captains sailing them, has been a theme since I finally received my OUPV Captains license.
The Ships of the Sea museum has a important place here in Savannah, since the city’s safe port and large river entry has been bringing people to America since 1733.
All of those important historical ships can be found here at the museum. No, it’s not a massive Amazon building sized museum, the ships are all replicated models.
I enjoy a puzzle in the rainy months of winter, but these ship models are ridiculously time consuming endeavors. All the power to the artists for their dedication! There was a cool section of a room, in the two story building, dedicated to some of the old sailing instruments. Fascinating how sailors of old figured out ways to make a machined devices to find their way about the seas.
travers Board, torpedo log, other fun stuff
From the museum, I headed out on bike and zig zagged my way around the old town, checking out the old Central Cemetery along the way. I met up with Stacey for a delicious lunch in Forsyth Park @ Collins Quarter, and we headed out of this nice old town for the beach at Jekyll Island.
Look for us there next ok 👌
