Coming home for Stacey!
Dec 16-18, 2021
12,422 miles so far!
We took the scenic coastal route to our next destination, most of which Stacey had spent some time in, at some point or another. The gulf coast of Alabama and it’s white sands is where Birmingham-born Stacey went to play at the beaches.

We finally found beachside restaurants (somehow they eluded us in Florida?),
and some holiday beachside cheer.
The weather didn’t cooperate for a sunbathing, beach hang out, other than our arrival day, but we kept ourselves busy as always 👍.

The campground at Gulf State Park is immense, with over 500 RV sites, but our little tent liked the 10 “primitive“ sites much better. The park itself is huge and great for any activity, from freshwater or saltwater fishing, hiking or biking the trails, to beach strolls and bird watching. Sadly, we did none of that with the rain, but got to visit Stacey’s friend Amy at work, and try our hand at glassblowing.
Stacey making a starfish paperweight, and me a flower. Thanks Amy!
* and brother Damon, we have new respect for your amazing ability with this fluid molten medium 🤟
For the whole trip, we have been searching for some live music that starts sometime before our bedtime🥴. This part of the world seems to be full of such indulgence!
We had the choice of music venues, and we chose the one with the best beer😜. The Big Beach brewery had all our needs covered, from amazing beers to an awesome band, and delicious food at a permanent food truck - we scored! (and we even meet the owner‘s son, who was a sailor and previous Sausalito resident!)
Next we head off to Dauphin Island to visit with more of Stacey’s friends.
Hi Tiffani 😀 Yes let’s catch up when we get home this March. Cheers and thanks for reading and commenting 👍
Super fun! I'm so glad that you both chose this life style for a while. So refreshing. I was just looking at a week away at Hilton Head. When you get back, I'll pick your brain for the best exchange idea. I have a week that I have to use each year, and I don't know the east coast well. Habit has been Hawaii or Mexico.
