Cornell Lab of Ornithology
I’m geeking out on birds, while Stacey gets in a little work.

We are finishing out our week in the Finger Lakes, with a few last things on the list. The Bird Lab at Cornell was one, but we could only walk the wetlands around the lab, because the lab visitors center itself is closed due to Covid😢.
Yesterday, we hit a bunch of quick look falls, on our way down to Corning. Even the chariot got in the photo at Aunt Sara’s falls. Shequaga, Deckertown, and my favorite of the mornin - Eagle’s Cliff falls, we’re worth the stops.
It was another work day for Stacey, and I had always wanted to visit the Corning Museum of Glass (my brother the glassblower said it was good 👍).
Wow! A day there cannot do it justice.
There is a phenomenal amount of contemporary art, historical glass ( some I saw was from 1500BC!), and demonstrations from blowers and flame workers. There is even a wing for engineers to get excited about the innovation of glass and its use in the future.
I met Stacey afterwards at the Iron Flamingo brewery for a relaxing beverage. Then fine dining at Hand & Foot, along the happening main drag in Corning.

On the way to our next adventure, we got veggies from this persons farm stand:

Stacey & I also rented a canoe for a paddle on the Seneca-Cayuga canal. The water flows from one Finger Lake to the other, so we paddled upstream first. All was lovely on the clear waters, with tons of fish swimming below us and a mink even came to the shore to let us have a good look at him! We later saw his friend on the other shore with a fish in its mouth.

We paddled for 2 hours upriver before we finally got to Seneca Lake, and the last part gave us a good headwind to battle. Lunch along shore, then what we thought would be a wind-assist return, but the wind disappeared?! Tired and sore, we returned the boat and searched out a winery for our reward beverage.
