We found some interesting riding to be done on this small Island. You can get around anywhere, except off, the island by bike. Don’t expect to get in too many miles with all the sites to see anyway. A highlight for me was the fact that the beach sand is hard enough to ride a mountain bike on. This was a first for both of us, and now we understand what an actual “beach cruiser” bike is all about 🙄.
We also got to ride all over town, since Tybee Island is only 3 1/2 miles long. We stopped for lunch a the Crab Shack, and wondered why there were so many cars there on a Tuesday… It was soon apparent that this ramshackle backwater place was the place to be, right on the water, as it has been for a very long time it looked like. The deck, buildings, bars, gift shop, and critter habitats, sprawled out in all directions. The highlight was the alligator pond, that is, until we found the bird sanctuary. A bunch of smart, but sad, birds in cages, who really livened up when I started playing some blues on my phone. If we had an RV, they would all be traveling with us after a jailbreak. We biked outa that backwater, and back into town, where i found out about biking on the beach. We saw the lighthouse and tried to scare the shore birds, but they were used to us tourists. Back home to cook in a kitchen, since cooking in camp has its “challenges“.

I like the looks of that green bike under stac...Great photos!
