Estes Park morning greeter

Another night of elk calls (picture a donkey call except that the donkey ate your dog’s squeaky toy), then pack camp to move to our next site. It is a mild hike kind of day, because we broke ourselves yesterday, so we decide on a scenic drive along the unpaved Old Fall River Road and then onto the Alpine Visitor’s Center, and then the paved Trail Ridge Road. The visitor’s center was an exciting stop due to an elk herd in the distance and a good viewing of the rut in progress:)

Barely breathing but happy @12k ft

Along the Trail Ridge Road, we stopped at several scenic overlooks, and did a short hike at the Rock Cut interpretive trail. Then off to Hermit’s Hollow campground to setup at our new spot, then back to Estes Park to hit a few local breweries then grab dinner at the Stanley Hotel (aka the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in The Shining). See the separate post for the story…
